The Head of Engagement at Plan International is a critical role that leads the organization's global engagement strategy. This role is responsible for ensuring that Plan International is seen as a global leader in girls' rights and girls in crisis, and for driving the organization's Global Strategy through collective influencing.
The Head of Engagement works closely with the Chief Strategy and Engagement Officer, as well as with other key internal and external stakeholders, to develop and implement the organization's engagement strategy. This strategy includes identifying and leveraging global engagement opportunities, planning and executing external global engagement initiatives, and building relationships with key stakeholders.
The Head of Engagement must have a proven commitment to and expertise in advancing Plan International's Purpose to advance children's rights and equality for girls (in all their diversity), gender equality, diversity and inclusion. They must also have experience in public affairs, advocacy, government relations, or other similar fields.

In addition, the Head of Engagement must have strong project management skills, excellent stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to communicate with clarity and effectiveness to different audiences.
Responsibilities of the Head of Engagement
- Lead the development and implementation of Plan International's global engagement strategy.
- Identify and leverage global engagement opportunities to advance the organization's mission and vision.
- Plan and execute external global engagement initiatives, projects, and work programmes.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including governments, donors, civil society organizations, and the media.
- Represent Plan International at global events and conferences.
- Advocate for the rights of children and girls at the global level.
Qualifications for the Head of Engagement
- Proven commitment to and expertise in advancing Plan International's Purpose to advance children's rights and equality for girls (in all their diversity), gender equality, diversity and inclusion.
- Experience in public affairs, advocacy, government relations, or other similar field.
- Strong project management skills.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to communicate with clarity and effectiveness to different audiences.
- Experience of providing professional advice and guidance to leaders within an organisation of comparable complexity.
- Staff management and motivation skills.
- Business administration and/or project management qualifications.
- Experience of working within a global organisation.
