Northern Nigeria, particularly Kano State, faces interconnected challenges of economic fragility, youth unemployment, gendered access to opportunity, and the impacts of environmental degradation. 

Climate change, resource pressure, and limited access to sustainable income-generating avenues have further compounded existing vulnerabilities in both rural and urban communities.

Amid these challenges, the concept of sustainable livelihoods and green entrepreneurship is gaining traction as a pathway to economic empowerment, environmental protection, and social inclusion—especially for women and youth.

Clean Technology Hub, with support from the Heinrich Böll Foundation (HBS), is implementing a project that seeks to drive localised and inclusive solutions to livelihood fragility through green innovation, sustainable energy entrepreneurship, capacity building, and systemic stakeholder engagement.

This project in Kano State aims to:

1. Identify community-based sustainable livelihood needs and opportunities;
2. Equip women and youth with the tools to create and grow green businesses;
3. Build institutional capacity within civil society and government agencies for effective climate-responsive programming; 
4. Foster inclusive stakeholder collaboration through structured engagements.

Clean Technology Hub seeks a highly motivated and knowledgeable Consultant to lead the

delivery of core aspects of the “Sustainable Livelihoods and Green Entrepreneurship for

Women and Youth in Kano State” project.
