By the 29th of May, 2024, President Bola Tinubu will have completed one year in office, and it is imperative that these programmes are revitalized by or before this significant date.

1. Monthly Stipends for Unemployed Youths: The Federal Government took a groundbreaking step by announcing an initiative to disburse monthly stipends of N25,000 to unemployed youths across the country. This strategic decision aims to alleviate the economic hardships faced by the unemployed populace.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, following the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on February 26. The government is committed to supporting the youth, particularly unemployed graduates, during these challenging times of soaring food costs.

The stipends are part of a Social Security Unemployment Programme that will enhance the purchasing power of vulnerable individuals.

2. Consumer Credit Program: In addition to the stipends, the Government plans to implement a consumer credit program as part of its economic adjustment strategy. This program, overseen by a committee headed by the President's Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, aims to make consumer credit available and, consequently, goods more affordable. This move is expected to foster economic revival.

3. National Social Investment Programmes (NSIP): The government promised before the suspension of NSIP to resume direct payments to 12 million households, comprising 60 million Nigerians, through the National Social Investment Programme. Stressing that, Beneficiaries will be identified using their National Identity Numbers (NIN) and Bank Verification Numbers (BVN). Funds will be transferred to their mobile money wallets or bank accounts.

These initiatives underscores the government's commitment to supporting vulnerable populations and stimulating economic growth. As Mr President celebrate his 1 year in office that day, it is anticipated to have a positive development of the programmes to ensure lives of unemployed youths across the country is impacted.
