PRESS CONFERENCE BY THE COMMISSIONER OF KANO STATE POLICE COMMAND, CP MOHAMMED USAINI GUMEL, FIPMA, psc, AT THE HEADQUARTERS OF THE STATE POLICE COMMAND, KANO ON TUESDAY, 23RD MAY, 2023


Ladies and Gentlemen Invited Guests and Members of the Press;


It is my pleasure to once again welcome you all to this Headquarters of Kano State Police Command, Bompai, Kano. It could be recalled that when I assumed duty on the 2nd May 2023, I held a media interaction at which I stated my Action Plans and the roadmap towards putting in place a peaceful Kano State in line with the directives and guidance of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, psc(+), NPM, NEAPS, fdc, CFR.


2. In this journey of our efforts towards effectively Policing the State and especially ensuring a successful and hitch-free transition for the May 29, 2023, Kano State Governorship Inauguration. We have continually intensified our drive for policing and other relevant engagements with concerted intelligence-led operations, round-the-clock visibility patrols, synergizing with the military and other sister security agencies of which we are at this moment receiving the massive support of the media in the promotion of programs geared towards public sensitization through the Radio, Television and the Social Media outlets.


3.  It is with this renewed vigour, determination, use of technical support and sustained Operation for Restoration of the Peace that today, I will be giving the Press yet another media brief, which will add to the Command’s last press conference that was held on 11th May 2023. The goal is to highlight our achievements during the last twelve (12) days. 

So far, a total of Ninety-Six (96) suspects were arrested for offences ranging from drugs and substance abuse that formed the motivating factor for violent crimes in the State such as mobile phone robbery, kidnapping, armed robbery, theft of motor vehicles, etc.


4. The summary of these major achievements is outlined as follows:

a. Mobile Phones Robbery (i) Number of Incidents – 18

         (ii) Number of Suspects Arrested – 52

         (iii) Number of Mobile Phones Recovered – 71

         (iv) Number of Weapons Recovered -    150

b. Illicit Drugs / Substances Cases Recorded (i) Number of Incidents – 7

         (ii) Number of Suspects Arrested – 6

         (iii) Illicit Drugs/Substances Recovered – (20) Cartons of Codeine Syrup, forty-five (45) parcels, three hundred and three (303) wraps of Dried Leaves Suspected to be cannabis, Suspected Exol Tablets, thirty (30) Pieces of Suspected Diazepam, thirty (30) Pieces of Suck and Die, etc.

c. Other Major Cases Recorded (i) Number of Incidents – 25

         (ii) Number of Suspects Arrested – 38

         (iii) Exhibits Recovered:- Three (3) Locally Made Guns, some deadly fabricated weapons, four (4) Motor Vehicles, two (2) Tricycles, six (6) Motorcycles, one (1) Roll of Power Cables, two (2) Plasma TV, one (1) Air Conditioner, two (2) Jerricans of 25litres of Palm Oil, A Gas of Cylinder, A Ceiling Fan, some Wrist Watches and twenty-eight (28) peg-irons symbol in cemetery for grave identification, etc.       

  

5. As this police command is committed to the restoration of the internal security order of the State, we shall continue to work with the required sacrifices and diligent commitments alongside the synergy with relevant stakeholders to resolutely pursue the vision and mission of the Inspector-General of Police. On this note, please join the state police command under my stewardship, in witnessing the handing over of a total of the six (6) suspected illicit drugs and substance Dealers and Hawkers, including all the accompanying exhibits to the state command of the NDLEA where further investigations will be conducted.


6. Finally, I cannot end this briefing without appreciating the good people of Kano State for their prayers, support, encouragement, understanding, and cooperation during this period. PLEASE FIND BELOW THE DETAILS REGARDING THE SUMMARY OF THE CASES AS HIGHLIGHTED ABOVE:


     A. MOBILE PHONE ROBBERY CASES

i. ARREST OF SUSPECTED MOBILE PHONES ARMED ROBBERS AND RECOVERY OF SIX MOBILE PHONES: - On 21/05/2023 at about 0630hrs, based on credible information, one Abdullahi Aliyu, ‘m’, of 22-years old, of Kwanar Ganduje Quarters was arrested in possession of six (6) mobile phones of different types. During the police investigation it was found that on the same date at about 0430hrs, the lead suspect criminally trespassed into a house located at Sabuwar Madina Quarters, Sharada and armed with deadly weapon stole the said six (6) mobile phones from the residents. Consequently, the rightful owners of stolen phones were traced and the case will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation. 


ii. ARREST OF SUSPECTED MOBILE PHONE ARMED ROBBERS: - On 18/05/2023 at about 160a 0hrs, report was received from a resident of Chiranchi Quarters that one Halifa Lawan, ‘m’, 20 years old and Zaliha Musa, ‘f’, 35 years old and Malam Audu, ‘m’, criminally trespassed into one Sumayya Ali ‘f’ of Chiranchi Quarters and attacked her with a knife, robbed her phone and ran away. On receipt of the report, concerted intelligence-led operations led to the Arrest of the said Halifa Lawan, ‘m’, and Zaliha Musa, ‘f’. Case under investigation. 

iii. ARREST OF SUSPECTED MOBILE PHONE ARMED ROBBERS: - On 05/05/2023 at about 2130hrs, a report was received from residents that on the same date at about 2040hrs, suspected fake Policemen attacked him and robbed his Handset Samsung g and cash sum of N6000. On receipt of the report, a team of detectives swung into action and the two suspects were arrested constabulary ID cards and Tricycle with KAROTA No. 1005 suspected to be robbed were recovered from them.  The Case will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.


iv. ARREST OF ANOTHER SUSPECTED MOBILE PHONE ROBBERS: - On 20/05/2023 at about 1130hrs, based on sustained follow-up and intelligence-led investigation, the following suspects were arrested in connection with a series of cases of Mobile phone robbery;

(1) Ammar Jafar ‘m’ of Dawanau Quarters (2) Abdul Usaini ‘m’ of Tsamiya Brigade Quarters (3) Ibrahim Adamu ‘m’ of Gama B Quarters and (4) Sani Muhammad ‘m’ of Gama B Quarters who is their customer receiving from them all the exhibits. The suspects were arrested along Bompai Road by Central Hotel, kano. They confessed to having at various points and in recent times robbed more than 20 mobile phones and sold them to the said receiver; Sani Muhammad ‘m’ of Gama B Quarters. Five suspected stolen mobile phones, Tricycle with KAROTA No TRN 3101 and Reg. No. DAL 371VY were recovered from them. The case will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.

v. ARREST OF SUSPECTS FOR MOBILE PHONE ROBBERY: - Series of reports were received that some suspects specialized in phone robbery at Gwagwarwa, Nassarawa LGA. On receipt of the report of reports, a team of detectives swung into action. One Umar Abdullahi, ‘m’, of Rimin Kebe Quarters. Two other suspects were arrested while committing the said crime. The case will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.


vi. ARREST OF SUSPECTED MOBILE PHONE ARMED ROBBERS: - On 14/05/2023 at about 1600hrs, a team of detectives while on crime prevention patrol intercepted and arrested one Abdulrazak Ibrahim, ‘m’, Adamu Isma’il ‘m’ and Umar Abdullahi ‘m’ all of the various addresses in possession of Handset suspected to be robbed. Case under investigation.


vii. ARREST OF SYNDICATE OF MOBILE PHONE ARMED ROBBERS AND RECEIVERS OF STOLEN PHONES: - On 10/05/2023 at about 0840hrs based on intelligence-led information, a team of detectives arrested one Usaini Adamu A.K.A Dan Usaini ‘m’ of Kuka Daya, Kwana Hudu Brigade quarters, Kano, in possession of Infinix Spark 10 at Bata GSM market, Kano, when interrogated, he confessed stolen the said phone in Abuja from an unknown person. During the investigation, his accomplice Abubakar Ibrahim A.K.A Dan Sambo ‘m’ of Kurna Layin Dan Zango was also arrested which led to the arrest of Musa Aminu A.K.A Musa Yaro who confessed to be their receiver, while Suleiman Salihu Musa ‘m’ of Brigade Kwana Hudu is their computer expert who unlocks their stolen phones and Abdulgaffar Sidi A.K.A Badoo who is a receiver of the stolen phone’s sim cards and uses same to remove/withdraw money from people’s accounts. The investigation also led to the arrest of Bilal Idris and Labaran Musa who are pocket pickers at the same Bata market. In the same vein, the said Abubakar Ibrahim Dan Sambo also led the team to the Arrest of Abba Auwal A.K.A Dan Madara and Saifullahi Rabi’u A.K.A Doctor who are also receivers of stolen phones in the same Bata GSM phone Market, Kano.

viii. ARREST OF SUSPECTED MOBILE PHONE ARMED ROBBER: - On 17/05/2023 at about 1500hrrs, a report was received from a resident of Dorayi Quarters, Gwale LGA Kano State that, on the same date at about 1200hrs, one Sadiq Yakubu, ‘m’, conspired with one Abdulyassar Aminu, ‘m’, all of Manami Quarters, Gwale LGA and attacked one Abdullahi Jibrin ‘m’ of the same address, stabbed him using a broken bottle and robbed his Mobile Phone, valued eight thousand naira (N8,000:00). On receipt of the report, a team of detectives was immediately detailed to arrest the perpetrators. The two suspects were arrested and the exhibit used in the commission of the crime was recovered. Suspects will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.


ix. ARREST OF MOBILE PHONES ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT AND RECOVERY OF ONE LOCALLY MADE PISTOL WITH SEVEN (7) ROUND OF LIVE CARTRIDGES: - On 20/05/2023 at about 2350hrs, based on intelligence-led and operations, one Najib Yakubu, ‘m’, of Kurna Quarters, Kano, was arrested along Audu Bako by Prince Hotel. On spot search, one locally made pistol with seven (7) rounds of live cartridges and some quantity of dry leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp, a Fidelity ATM card bearing Aisha Aminu and three (3) mobile phones were recovered from him. Case under investigation. 


x. ARREST OF SUSPECTED MOBILE PHONES ARMED ROBBERS: - On 11/05/2023 at about 2130hrs, a report was received from a good Samaritan that a group of Armed robbers are attacking innocent civilians at Kabuga Under Pass and robbed their Handsets. On receipt of the report, a team of detectives swung into action and the following suspects were arrested; (1) Ibrahim Rabiu, ‘m’, 21-year-old (2) Yusuf Abdullahi, ‘m’, 24-year-old (3) Mus’ab Sani, ‘m’, 23-year-old (4) Halifa Abdullahi, ‘m’, 21-year-old, all of Ungogo and Yakasai Quarters, Kano. Three (3) mobile phones were recovered from them and they all confessed to having committed the crime. The case will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.


xi. ARREST OF SUSPECTED MOBILE PHONE ARMED ROBBERS: - On 16/05/2023 at about 0730hrs, a report was received from a resident of Kawo Quarters, Kano, that an unknown person attacked him and robbed the following items from him (1) Samsung mobile phone (2) Nokia mobile phone (3) iWatch and (4) HP Laptop. On receipt of the report, a team of detectives were drafted to arrest the suspect. Sustained follow-up led to the arrest of the suspect, Hasan Idris, ‘m’, 19 years old and all the exhibits were recovered. The case will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation. 


xii. ARREST OF SUSPECTED MOBILE PHONE ARMED ROBBERS: - Based on credible information received, a team of detectives arrested four suspected mobile phones armed robbers along Zoo Road, Kano, in possession of four mobile phones suspected to be robbed. They have confessed to having robbed the said mobile phones. The case will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.

 

xiii. ARREST OF SUSPECT IN POSSESSION OF MOBILE PHONE SUSPECTED TO BE ROBBED: - On 18/05/2023 at about 1400hrs, a Partnership with the members of Farm Centre GSM market led to the arrest of two suspects, ‘m’, all of Tarauni LGA Kano, in possession of a locked iPhone XR suspected to be robbed. They confessed to the crime. The investigation is ongoing.


xiv. ARREST OF SUSPECTED MOBILE PHONE ARMED ROBBERS: - In another five (5) incidents of mobile phones robbery reported discreet investigation carried out led to the arrest of twenty-four (24) mobile phones robbery suspects and recovery of, twenty-two mobile phones, dangerous weapons and illicit drugs.


  B. CASES OF ILLICIT DRUG DEALINGS


i. ARREST OF NOTORIOUS DRUG DEALER AND PEDLER: - On 20/05/2023 at about 0400hrs, the police acted on credible intelligence and arrested one Musbahu Garba, ‘m’, of Tsamiyar Kara Quarters, Gezawa LGA, who is a notorious drug dealer and peddler at an uncompleted building which is his criminal hideout located at the same address. The suspect who has been on the manhunt by the police was this time arrested with a large consignment of exhibits recovered from him. Other exhibits recovered include a long sharp knife which he always moves around with because he had declared war against security agents and their informants, some quantity of Indian Hemp, suck and die substances and white tablets suspected to be hard drugs and the motorcycle he is using for peddling drugs and substances. The case will be handed over to NDLEA today for completion of the investigation.


ii. ARREST OF SUSPECTED DRUG DEALER: - On 14/05/2023, following credible information received from residents, one Saifullahi Sabiu ‘m’ of Sabuwar Mandawari, was arrested in possession of Ten (10) pieces of solution and seven small bottles of suck and die. The investigation led to the arrest of one Ibrahim Ibrahim Suleiman, ‘m’, of Sheka Gidan Kaji who supplies drugs for the said Saifullahi Sabiu to sell. The suspect will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.


iii. ARREST OF SUSPECTED DRUG DEALERS: - On 15/05/2023 at about 1830hrs, based on credible information received, a team of detectives raided a black spot at Nassarawa Bagadawa Quarters and arrested the following suspects; (1) Abba Kabiru, ‘m’, of Nassarawa Bagadawa in possession of Ninety-nine (99) wraps and one mud of dry leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp (2) Yahaya Garba, ‘m’, of the same address in possession of two (2) bottle of solution suspected to be intoxicant. The case will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation. 


iv. ARREST OF SUSPECTED DRUG DEALER: - In a follow-up of a case reported on 10/05/2023 at about 2103hrs, based on intelligence-led operations, one Hafizu Abdullahi ‘m’ of Kofar Yamma Dawakin Tofa was arrested in possession of one hundred and three (103) wraps and half Mud of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp, Two hundred and sixty three (263) exol Tablets and thirty (30) Diazepam Tablets suspected to be intoxicants. The case will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.


v. ARREST OF SUSPECTED DRUG DEALER: - In a follow-up of a case reported on 09/05/2023 at about 2100hrs, an intelligence-based raid was carried out, one Abubakar Adamu, ‘m’, of Medile Quarters. was arrested in possession of Forty Exol (40) tablets. The suspect has been charged to court for prosecution.


vi. ARREST OF SUSPECTED DRUG DEALER: - On 09/05/2023, intelligence-based patrol and raiding led to the arrest of one Ibrahim Aminu, ‘m’, 18-year-old of Ja’en Quarters in possession of about Thirty (30) small bottles containing a liquid substance suspected to soak and die and three (3) tube of rubber solution. The suspect will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.


vii. RECOVERY OF TRICYCLE USED FOR SELLING HARD DRUGS: - On 12/05/2023 at about 17235hrs while on intelligence-led operations, a Tricycle with Reg. No. GWW 204 VF and KAROTA No. KMC 2815 suspected to be used in selling Hard drugs was abandoned and recovered after pursuing the miscreants. Case under investigation.


C. CASES OF KIDNAPPING

i. ARREST OF NOTORIOUS KIDNAPPER: - On 18/05/2023 at about 2000hrs, acting on credible information by a team of operatives on the arrested one Safiyanu Muhammad, ‘m’, 25-year-old, of Laraba Village, Gabasawa LGA, Kano. The suspect confessed his involvement in a series of Armed robbery cases, kidnapping and cattle rustling within Gabasawa LGA. The Case will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.


ii. ARREST OF SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS AND THEIR COLLABORATORS: - On 16/05/2023 at about 1100hrs, upon credible information received, a team of operatives raided a criminal hideout of one Kabiru Usman ‘m’ 56-year-old of Badumawa Village, Shanono LGA and got him arrested. The investigation led to the arrest of three (3) suspects in connection with a case of kidnapping and culpable homicide that took place on 13/05/2023 at Unguwar Zangina, Lakawa village, Gwarzo LGA Kano. Case under investigation.


iii. ARREST OF SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER AND RECOVERY OF 42 EMPTY SHELL AMMUNITION OF AK-47 RIFFLE: - On 20/05/2023 at about 0800hrs, based on intelligence-led operations, a team of surveillance intercepted a Sharoon motor vehicle while coming from Maiduguri to Gusau Zamfara State. On spot search, 42 empty shells of AK-47 riffle were recovered from the vehicle and the driver Murtala Abubakar, ‘m’, 32 years old of Gusau Zamfara State was arrested. Case under investigation.


D. CASES OF HOUSE/SHOP BREAKING AND THEFT


i. ARREST OF SUSPECT FOR HOUSEBREAKING AND THEFT: - On 13/05/2023 at about 0030hrs, a team of Policemen while on patrol intercepted and arrested one Yusuf Muhammad, ‘m’, 19-year-old of Sabari Quarters. in possession of small plasma television, two Mp3 Player, Voltage Stabilizer and a cap which he could not give a satisfactory account of them. Investigation revealed that the suspect criminally broke into the house of one Muhammad Danlami ‘m’ of Ja’en Quarters. and stole away the above items, case under investigation. The suspect will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation. 


ii. ARREST OF NOTORIOUS SUSPECTS WHO SPECIALIZE ON HOUSE BREAKING AND THEFT: - On 20/05/2023 at about 1100hrs, Based on credible information coupled with intelligence-led operations, two notorious suspects, one among them identified as Salim Abdullahi Alias Mai Aure, ‘m’, and his associate Abubakar Yusuf, ‘m’, all of Hotoro Dan Marke Quarters were arrested in connection with a case of housebreaking and theft. The two suspects were subsequently identified as being on the wanted list of the police command in connection to a series of Armed robbery cases. The investigation led to the recovery of robbed properties as follows; two (2) Jerricans of Palm Oil and an Air Conditioner. The case is under investigation.


iii. ARREST OF SUSPECTS FOR ARMED ROBBERS, HOUSE BREAKING AND RECOVERY OF ARMS AND SUSPECTED STOLEN PROPERTY: - In a follow-up of a case of an armed robbery at Dawakin Tofa LGA, reported by one Sani Lawal Tahir, that on 13/05/2023 at about 2230hrs. the following suspects were arrested, one Abba Garba, ‘m’, of Kofar Kudu Quarters D/Tofa, Mubarak Mustapha, ‘m’, of Kofar Yamma Quarters D/Tofa, Aminu Mohammed, ‘m’, of Kofar Yamma Quarters D/Tofa, Khalid Saidu ‘m’ of R/Lemo and Musa Umar ‘m’ of Kurna Tudun Ribudi Dala LGA. They all confessed to having committed the crime. A plasma TV, wristwatches, Sharp offensive iron known as Barandami, a sharp knife, and two (2) long torch light used by the suspects for the commission of the crime were recovered from them. The case will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation. 


iv. ARREST OF SUSPECT FOR HOUSEBREAKING AND THEFT: - On a follow-up of a case reported on 10/05/2023 at about 1700hrs, from a resident at Medile Quarters, Kumbotso LGA, that on the same date, he came back from work and noticed his house was broke opened, all rooms were burgled and ransacked. On receiving the report, a team of detectives swung into action, one of the suspects, Muhammad Adamu, ‘m’, of Ja’en Masallaci was arrested at the scene while the other took to his heels. One Fabricated iron, MP3 and a pair of slippers were recovered. The case will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation. 


v. ARREST OF SUSPECT FOR HOUSE TRESPASS AND THEFT: - In a follow-up of a case reported On 01/05/2023 at about 1830hrs from a resident that an unknown person(s) criminally trespassed into one Rahma Aliyu, ‘f’, 45-year-old of Sharada Quarters Kano and stole away the following items; a gas cylinder, blanket, electric stove, ceiling fan, all valued Eighty Thousand (80,000). On receipt of the report, a team of detectives were detailed for investigation. One Huzaifa Ibrahim, ‘m’, 22-year-old of Sharada Quarters was arrested in connection to the crime and all exhibits were recovered. The case is under investigation.


vi. ARREST OF SUSPECT FOR SHOP BREAKING AND THEFT OF MOBILE PHONES: - In a follow-up of a case reported on 06/05/2023 at about 2123hrs from a resident that one Aliyu Ahmed, ‘m’, of the same address broke into his shop and made away with about fifteen Handsets. On receipt of the report, a team of detectives swung into action and the suspect was arrested. The case will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.


E. CASES OF THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLES


i. ARREST OF SUSPECTED MOTOR VEHICLE ARMED ROBBER AND RECOVERY OF LOCALLY FABRICATED DANE PISTOL, SWORD AND LONG STICK: - On 12/05/2023 at about 0450hrs, a report was received that a man driving one Toyota Corolla suspected to be robbed at gunpoint, with registration Number AG 342FGE, light blue in colour pretending to a bread vendor was sighted having possession of locally fabricated dane pistol. On receipt of the report, a team of detectives were detailed to arrest the suspect. The suspect was intercepted along Burma Road, Sabon Gari Quarters Kano. On a spot search of the Motor Vehicle, one locally fabricated pistol, sword and long stick were recovered and the suspect could not give any satisfactory account of his mission with the recovered items. The case will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.


ii. ARREST OF SUSPECTS FOR THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE: - On 20/05/2023 at about 1830hrs, a report was received from a resident of Zango Quarters that about three weeks ago, he gave his Honda Civic model motor vehicle to one Engineer Mustapha Mohammed to fix his AC, instead the mechanic criminally conspired with his friend, one Abdullahi, ‘m’, of Obasanjo road, Kano and sold the said vehicle to one Shafi’u Adamu, ‘m’, of Tudun Maliki, Kano. The team of detectives that were tasked to do the follow-up had since arrested the suspects and the case will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.


9. ANOTHER ARREST OF NOTORIOUS/WANTED ARMED ROBBER: - On 19/05/2023 at about 0300hrs, based on credible information received, a team of detectives raided the Hideout of a notorious armed robber, One Ibrahim Hussaini, ‘m’, 32-year-old of Karabe Village Warawa LGA, Kano, and got him Arrested. The suspect confessed to a series of Armed Robberies within Warawa LGA, kano. Case under investigation.


F. THUGGERY (DABA) CASES

i. ARREST OF SUSPECTED THUGS (YAN DABA): - On 15/05/2023 at about 1015hrs, a report was received from a good samaritan of Bachirawa that some group of thugs were sighted with dangerous weapons. On receipt of the report, a team of detectives were drafted to the scene, where there was confrontation and resistance by the thugs. However, ten (10) suspects were arrested and Hard Drugs, Dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp, a Sharp knife, and two (2) cutlasses and Machetes were recovered from the scene. The case will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.

ii. ARREST OF SUSPECTED THUGS (YAN DABA) FOR CAUSING GRIEVOUS HURT: - On 14/05/2023 at about 1330hrs, a report was received from residents that some group of thugs led by one Shamaki, ‘m’, of Sheka Bayan Makaranta Quarters, Stormed their wedding venue and attacked them, one Muhammad Abubakar ‘m’ 30-year-old of Sheka bus-stop sustained head injury and four others were also injured. On receipt of the report, a team of detectives were detailed to the scene and three (3) of the suspects were arrested, one Shamaki, Goma and Barga, all of Bayan Makaranta Quarters. While others fled away. Case under investigation.

iii. ARREST OF SUSPECT IN POSSESSION OF DANGEROUS WEAPON: - On 20/05/2023 at about 0015hrs, a team of surveillance while on patrol, arrested one Shamsu Musa, ‘m’, of Hotoro Quarters, Kano at a black spot in possession of a sharp knife. Case under investigation.


    

G. OTHER CASES RECORDED


ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT AND RECOVERY OF LOCALLY FABRICATED RIFLE AND PISTOL WITH ONE LIVE CARTRIDGE: - On 13/05/2023 at about 1300hrs, a report was received from a resident of Gwammaja Quarters, Kano that, about a month ago, a gang of unknown persons five in number with motor vehicle Golf white in colour with Reg. No. AKD 874 DC paraded themselves as customs officers, attacked him and robbed seventeen (17) bags of rice and fled the scene. After some days, the same gang with the same car attacked the said complainer and robbed nine (9) bags of rice. Sustained follow-up led to the arrest of one Saifullahi Yusuf, ‘m’, of Rijiyar Lemu Quarters, Kano, arrest with the said motor vehicle. The suspect confessed to the crime which led to the arrest of his gang member Najib Sa’idu, ‘m’, of Bankaura village, Ungogo LGA Kano, in possession of a locally fabricated rifle and pistol with one live cartridge used for the commission of the said crime. The case is under investigation.


i. ARREST OF 35-YEAR-OLD WOMAN FOR ATTEMPTED CULPABLE HOMICIDE AND CAUSING GRIEVOUS HURT: - On 14/05/2023 at about 1840hrs (06:40pm), a distress call was received from a good Samaritan who reported that he heard a loud cry of a girl from an uncompleted building located at Kureken Sani in Kumbotso LGA, Kano State. He was attracted and rushed to the scene where he met a girl in a pool of blood with a sharp knife being stabbed and the knife being stuck in her stomach, in addition to other injuries on other parts of her body. On receipt of the report, the victim was immediately rushed to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital where she was admitted. The Commissioner of Police directed immediate lunch for a hunt by all Police Officers and to use all available assets to ensure that the perpetrator(s) are brought to book as soon as practicable. Sustained follow-up coupled with intelligence-led operation led to the arrest of the suspect, Fatima Salisu, ‘f’, 35-year-old of Gadon Kaya Quarters Gwale LGA at a hideout in Dungulmi Village, Isari district, Dutse LGA, Jigawa State on 18th May 2023. The suspect confessed to the crime. The case will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.


ii. ARREST OF SUSPECTS IN POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY: - On 14/05/2023 at about 0130hrs, a community partnership with members of the market union led to the arrest of one Zaharaddini Nafi’u ‘m’ 20-year-old, one Musa Abdullahi ‘m’ 21-year-old all of Rinji quarters. Kano. The suspects were arrested at Sharada market while they were about to sell a suspected stolen roll of a power cable. Case under investigation. 


iii. ARREST OF NOTORIOUS SUSPECTED DOMESTIC ANIMAL THIEF: - On 12/05/2023 at about 0600hrs, sustained follow-up and credible information led to the arrest of one Ibrahim Usaini Alias Shata, ‘m’, of Karabe Gogel village, Warawa LGA, Kano for theft of Domestic Animals. Nine (9) sheep were recovered from him. The case will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.


iv. ARREST OF SUSPECTED FRAUDSTER:- On 20/05/2023 at about 1100hrs, a report was received from one Umar Ibrahim ‘m’ of Rijiyar Zaki Quarters, Kano that a suspected fraudster has swapped one ATM card belonging to Fatima Ibrahim, ‘f’, of Tudun Wada Quarters at GT Bank ATM point located along Murtala Muhammad way, kano. A team of detectives were detailed to the scene and the suspect was arrested. On spot search, 39 other ATM cards of different banks and a Motor vehicle Honda Accord black in colour with Reg No. FGE 731RY were recovered from him. The case will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.


v. ARREST OF SUSPECT FOR IMPERSONATION: - On 22/05/2023 at about 1100hrs a team of surveillance while on patrol arrested one Mukhtar Aminu Ibrahim, ‘m’, of Filin Mushe Quarters, Kano, at FCMB Bank, Ibrahim Taiwo Road Kano wearing a suspected Army Uniform. Investigation revealed that he is not military personnel. The case is under investigation.

vi. ARREST OF SUSPECTS FOR CONSPIRACY AND THEFT OF MOBILE PHONE: - On 20/05/2023 at about 1200hrs, a report was received from a resident that he went to Farm Centre to sell his mobile phone Itel. suddenly, one unknown person came and price it, while someone came from behind and held his arms where the person pricing the phone ran away with the said phone. On receipt of the report, a team of detectives were detailed to the scene and arrested the suspect. He confessed to being a member of mobile phone armed robbers. A case under investigation. 


vii. ARREST OF SUSPECTED THUGS (YAN DABA): - On 15/05/2023, at about 2330hrs, a team of surveillance patrol while on intelligence-led operations arrested three suspected thugs (Yan Daba), with dangerous weapons. They confessed to using the same to commit armed robbery and other offences. The case will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation, etc.
